"New Yorker"誌1959年8月1日号（"LIFE"誌は8月3日号）から始まり１６年間つづいたＶＷオールド・ビートルのシリーズは、いまなお、世界中の広告クリエイターにとって第一級の目安となっています。
キャンペーンの丹念な跡づけは↓の『ニューヨーカー･アーカイブ』によって行なったが、"LIFE"誌他からも拾ってみました。

ロード＆トラック誌の記者たちは、すごい外国車にしょっちゅう
試乗しています。
彼らが試乗した結果、公表した言葉は、｢フォルクスワーゲンの
出来上がりは信じられないぐらいだ｣でした。
私たちは、これをたいへんな贈り物として受けとりました。
おわかりですか。彼らは｢この値段にしては｣とはいわなかったの
です。まさに｢信じられない｣---ピリオド---です。
正直いって、私たちは驚きませんでした。
一つの基本形を、15年間も改良、精練しつづけてきたのですから、
もし、不要なものがある---とでもいわれれば驚いたでしょうが。
フォルクスワーゲンの部品は、すべてぴったり嵌合するし、車は
事実、気密なのです。
もし、あなたがＶＷをバラバラにしてご覧になれば、外側も内側
も完全に塗装されていることを発見なさるでしょう。
(それも１回や２回ではなく４重塗装です。)
私たちは、フロント･ドアと同じようにグラブ･コンパートメン
ト･ドアもちゃんとしています。
組み立ての終わったエンジンは、搭載以前に馴らされます。
また、ウインドシールドもすべて点検します。
ロード＆トラック誌は｢あらゆる点でＶＷはすばらしい---のひと
言でいいつくされる｣と結んでいます。
まさに、いいつくしています。

We put as much effort into the glove compertment door
as the front door.
We run-in every last engine before it's installed; we
check every windshield.
