(509)Best 10 ads of VW beetle that chuukyuu chose (1)

We'd like to show you the 5,000,000th Volkswagen. But it's been sold.

Sorry.
A man picked it up in December.
(But you know what it looked like. It looked like a beetle.)
You might think 5,000,000 is a grand number for our modest car.
But then, the whole VW idea is to take the modest and perfect it.
We've preferred to leave a few things out of our car and put more quality into the parts that count. For years we even left out the fuel gauge.
But you got the best suspension and transmission in the business.
And you know the VW engine. In the Grand Prix, you might come in a day after everybody else. But you'll be the last one into a repair shop.
And yet some people have asked if our funnv-Iooking car was through, now that the VW 1500 has appeared.
No.(We'd be crazy.)
It's the third best-selling car in the world.

Lemon

This Volkswagen missed the boat.
The chrome strip on the glove compartment is blemished and must be replaced. Chances are you wouldn't have noticed it; Inspector Kurt Kroner did.
There are 3,389 men at our Wolfsburg factory with only one job: to inspect Volkswagens at each stage of production. (3000 Volkswagens are produced daily; there are more inspectors than cars.)
Every shock absorber is tested (spot checking won't do), every windshield is scanned.
VWs have been rejected for surface scratches barely visible to the eye.
Final inspection is really something! VW inspectors run each car off the line onto the Funktionsprufstand (car test stand), tote up 189 check points, gun ahead to the automatic brake stand, and say "no" to one VW out of fifty.
This preoccupation with detail means the VW lasts longer and requires less maintenance, by and large, than other cars. (It also means a used VW depreciates less than any other car.)
We pluck the lemons; you get the plums.

Every now and then a VW runs into a little troble at the factory.

That hunk of junk was on its way to being a Volkswagen, when it ran into a stone wall: a bunch-nosed
inspectors who pul enough parts off the line every day to make the equivolent of 20 cars. Or 2 freight cars full of scrap.
There are thousands of inspectors who literally pick every Volkswagen to pieces, every step of the way.
If there's a little scratch in a fender, it gets scratched, if there's a little nick in a bumper, it gets bumped.
Wherever ten people are doing something, there's an inspector to undo it. For the paint job alone, no less than 8 inspectors check every VW.
All that inspection doesn't mean the work isn't done carefully. the men who make the VW make it very well. The inspectors just make it perfect.

It takes this many men to inspect this many Volkswagens.

There are really only two things that stand between you and a new volkswagen:
$1799
And 1,104 inspectprs.
The money is your problem.
The number of inspectors it takes to okay each and every Volkswagen that leaves the Volkswagen factory is ours.
You see, once a man becomes a full Inspector at our factory (and he'll spend three years doing just that), he becomes a different man.
He then has the power to overrule any and all decisions that ralate to the manufacture of the car.
(One "no" from any one of those gentlemen up in the picture and that Volkswagen is not a Volkswagen.)
Every single VW part is inspected at least 3 times. That means that before the whole cat can from us to you, it has to go through 16,000 different inspections in all.
Think of that: 16,000.
We lose an average of 225 Bugs a day that way.
So if you ever had to wait a little longer than you cared to for a new Volkswagen, no you know why;
It's not that we can't make them fast enough.
It's just that we can't make them good enough fast enough.
