There are no bargains in Scotch Whisky.
You can buy a bottle of Scotch for abou t half the price of Chivas Regal.
And it will be about half as good.
When you buy Scotch, you get what you pay for. Price and quality go hand in hand.
So when you hand over $8.60 for a bottle of Chivas Regal, you'll naturally expect a great deal.
You won't be disappointed.
Many consider it to be the smoothest Scotch there is.
Or the lightest, if you prefer that word. (But remember that lightness has nothing to do with color. Or strength. Almost all Scotches, light or heavy, are 86 proof.)
Chivas Regal is made with the highly prized "soft" whisky of the Strathisla-Glenlivet Distillery the oldest known distillery in the Scottish Highlands.
(Just how old? A matter of conjecture. There's a charter of 1786 granting the lease of the distillery.)
Chivas Regal is always aged for 12 years.
We ship old sherry casks from Spain to Glenlivet to help in the aging. (They cost £35 each.)
The sherry which the oak sides have absorbed adds a special touch of distinction to the whisky.
Are these the secrets of Chivas Regal?
Or is it the pure Highland air? Or the barley? Or the water we draw from our clear H1ghland spnngs?
We simply don't know. Which is why we refuse to change, even slightly, the methods we've inherited.
