わが社は、手荷物を待つ間のあなたのすべての楽しみを奪ってしまいました。
手荷物引渡し所の近辺は、あなたが地上に舞いもどったことを、はじめて実感させる場所でしたでしょう。
いつだって……。（これじや、まるで、着陸と同時にジェット･スピード時代は終りです……とでも宣言されているみたいでした。)
そこで、私どもがとった対策は、きっとあなたの興味を引くと思いますよ。
まず最初に私どもは、あなたと手荷物が飛行機から降りて手荷物引渡し所に行きつくまでの距離を測りました。次に私どもはその問の各ステップに、私どもの手荷物運搬係を振りつけました。
そうです、振りつけをしたんですよ。バレーのそれと同じようにしたんです。
タイミングをよくするためにリハ−サルまでしたんです。）
最後に私どもは、一日中でいちばん混雑する便に合わせて手荷物運搬班を編成しました――しかも一日中それと同じ人数でやっているのです。
実際、今なら空港ビルからお出でになるのに５分とかからなったとおっしゃいますよ。きっと。

ヘルムート･クローン氏のエッセイに、帰宅途中の列車の中で、ボブ･ゲイジ氏と、ヘッドラインはどこまで小さくできるか……との会話を交わした、とありました。このシリーズがその実験の一つだったのかも。サクソンのイラストがアイ･キャッチャになっているのだから……との割り切りで。
We've taken all the fun out of waiting for your baggage.
The baggage area has always been the place where you first realized that
you had come back down to earth.
(As if the speed of the jet age ended when the plane came in.)
So you may be interested in some steps we've taken.
First, we measured the distances you and your suitcase travel from the
plane to the baggage area,
Then we choreographed our baggege handlers for every step of tjhe way.
(Yes, choreographed, just as in a ballet. We even had rehearsals for
timing.)
Finally, we've manned our baggege crews for the heaviest traffic of the
day―and kept the same number on duty all day long.
In fact, today you might say we're giving you just ５ minutes to get off
the premises.
