"New Yorker"誌1959年8月1日号（"LIFE"誌は8月3日号）から始まり１６年間つづいたＶＷオールド・ビートルのシリーズは、いまなお、世界中の広告クリエイターのハードルとなっています。
キャンペーンの丹念な跡づけは↓の『ニューヨーカー･アーカイブ』によって行なったが、"LIFE"誌他からも拾ってみました。

'62年型をお求めになったとどうして分かりますか？
まあ、ご心配なく。
'６１年型をお望みだとしても、お買いになれませんでしょうから。
1台も残っていないんです。
それはさておき、'６２年型とこれ以前の年代のものとを区別する
ための非常手段がいくつかあります。
ちょっとごらんになるだけでわかります。
テール･ライトが半インチ大きい。
新ＶＷには燃料計がついています。
とはいえ、改良の多くはごらんになれません。
感じとることはできます。
私たちはフロント･ルームとリア･ルームにヒーターの送風口をつけ、
平均して暖房がきくようにしました。
ブレーキは、少しの力で結構。
ブレーキやクラッチ、ステアリングの部品など、いままでは調整が
必要だったのですが、もう心配なし。
ＶＷのどの部分も、これ以上に締めるところはありません。
あ、そうか。よく開くようにしておいたところがありましたっけ。
ドア･ストップと、フロントのフードを開けておくためのスプリング
です。
合計、２８ヶ所の重大な改良が行なわれています。
けれども、そのどれ一つとして、去年の型を流行おくれにするもので
はありません。
そして、'６３年もこのやり方で行なわれます。

But most of changes can't be seen.
You feel them.
We've put new heater outlets both front and rear for
more even heating.
Braking takes less pressurs.
Braka, clutch and steering parts thst once needed
maintenance, don't any more.
Nothing on the ＶＷ can shut better.
So we've made a few things stay open better.
Doorstops that work. A spring to hold the front hood
open.
In all, there are 28 significant changes.
But not one of them makes last year's model obsolete.
And that's the way it'll be in '63, too.
