振り返らないで。私ども、尾行（つ）けられてるんです。
１年ちょっと前、アメリカン航空はあることを始めました。
それは、ジェット時代の第２幕でした（覚えていらっしゃいますね？）
これが、アメリカンで初のアストロジェット……ファン･ジェット･エンジン
つき７０７ ‥…の序章となりましたファン・ジェットは、在来のジェット
よりも30％強力なのです。飛行したとき、その差が歴然です。より速やか
な離陸、より速い上昇、より高い信頼感。
ほどなく、アストロジェットはジェット時代における輸送の新しい基準と
なりました。そして1961年の12月までにはアメリカン航空はジェット
機をすっかりアストロジェットに入れ替えました。
もちろん私どもは、他の航空会社もいつかはファン･ジェットに変えてくるだ
ろうということぐらい、承知していました。
いまや、それが始まったのです。もはや私たちの一人舞台ではなくなりまし
た。
しかし、何事もいちばん最初というのはいいものです。第一には各航空会社
が在来のジェット･エンジンの改造を依頼してきました。
また、国内線でファン･ジェット機を１００％就航させているのはいまだに、
わが社だけです。
ですから、空の旅をかならずファン･ジェット機でおやりになりたい方は、ど
うぞ、アストロ･ジェットをお選びください。絶対に失望なさいません。

A little over ａ year ago. American Airlinesstarted something.
Jet Age: Stage � (Remember?)
This was the introduction of American's first Astrojet―a 707
with fan･jet engines.
Fan･jets haye 30% more power than ordinary jets. It makes quite
ａ difference in your flight. Quicker take･offs. Higher speeds.
Greater dependability.
The Astrojet soon became the new standard of transportation in
the jet age. And by December of 1961. every American Airlines
jet was an Astroiet.
Of course. we knew right along that someday other airlines would
change to fan* jets, too.
And now they've started. So it isn't quite an exclusive any more.
But there's still a nice side to being first. For one thing, ａ
number of other airlines bring their ordinary jet engines to us
to be converted.
And tor another, American is still the only domestic airline whose
jet fleet is 100% fan･jet. ‘
So if you want to be sure of ａ fan-jet on every jet flight you taKe,
