海ポチャせずに次打をグリーンへ乗せるには、
カリブ海という難所を越えねばなりません。
打球は軌道修正できないので、
海に落ちたら潔く魚にプレゼントしましょう。
バショウカジキの上を通り越して海ポチャしたとしても、特にペナルティ料は発生しません。せいぜいゴルフボール1個と打数が無駄になるだけです。でも海を越えて陸までボールが届いたら（そこがラフだったとしても）、世界有数の刺激的なフェアウェーがあなたを待っています。世界で126ある名ホールのうち、9つがこの島に点在しております。
フェアウェーに「乗ったら」、そこからは2番アイアンの出番です。15メートルのヤシの木、竹藪、意地悪なドッグ・レッグ・コースに嫌らしい配置のバンカーなどの障害に負けないで下さい。
打数を減らすために豪快なショットばかり打つのではなく、教科書通りの安全な攻め方をすれば無難にホールアウトできるでしょう。
キャディさんの強いジャマイカ訛りに苦心しながらも、「このヤシの木は私が生まれたときに植えたんですよ。」となんとか聞き取れたら、３番アイアンの出番です。グリーンにナイス・オンできたなら、キャディさんにそっと1.8ドル渡しましょう。アドバイスしてくれたお礼です。
この島のコースの中には、図らずともグリーンが広めなコースがいくつかあります。この写真はカップから40ヤード（約36メートル）離れた2万平米の芝じゅうたんのエプロン部（グリーンと繋がるフェアウェーの一部）です。一方で、それなりの広さがあるこの島のグリーンの管理費は平均4ドルちょっと。（極度のゴルフ偏執狂か、ゴルファーの奥様、テニスや水泳目的でいらした方を除く。）
またこの島では、ゴルフだけでなくその他レジャー活動も盛んです。
レース状サンゴ、ダブルーン金貨、海ポチャ・ボールなどを見つけに沖へ出たいと思ったら、酸素ボンベは必須です。

Just beyond the next green at Tryall
lies a tough waterhazard called
the Caribbean.
You either correct that slice of yours
or feed your golf balls to the fish.
You pay no special penalty when you bean a passing sailfish. All it costs you is the ball and the stroke.
But if you can keep your ball out of the sea (and out of the rough) you'll be on some of the most exciting fairways in the world. One hundred and twenty-six of them, to be exact, on nine courses dotted about the island.
If you're "on." your mid-irons will take you over and around some beautifully grim hazards: fifty-foot palm trees, bamboo thickets, wicked dog-legs and a pusitively vicious assortment of traps and bunkers.
Now and then you'll find an easy hole, but for the most part you'll be daring yourself to play everyshot in the book ... and better than you've ever done before.
You may find the greatest challenge of all in your caddy's impenetrable Jamaican dialect. But if he should remark, "Me meh say fe use de tree now, mom, she gwain reach him so pretty." by all means play your three iron, reach the green nicely, and add an extra-nice tip to the $1.80-or-so caddy fee.
Some of our greens, iucidentally, are large. Picture twenty thousand square feel of carpety turf. where you can chip onto the apron and still lie forty yards from the cup. (Forty yards.)
Our green fees, on the other hand, are of modest proportions: a bit over $4, average.
Unless golf happens to be your absolute monomania, or if you're a non-golfer, or (Heaven help you) a golfer's wife, be sure you bring the essentials for tennis and swimming.
You'll find all the other gear right at hand. Including aqualungs, in case you'd like to go hunting offshore for lacy coral fans, or gold doubloons, or lost golf balls.
