Take this little one-car train
through the wild green hills
where no car can go. It's the
civilized way to see the jungle.
Last stop: a rum distillery.
Free samples. Whooo-whooo.

This little train is all club-car. It's also a party-on-wheels, a guided tour, a shopping spree,
a picnic trip and a freewheeling calypso session.
First stop is high on a windy hill above Montego, for the kind of view they put into pirate movies.
(Don't be surprised if you see a pirate sloop slipping over the horizon. Where do you think they
shoot those movies?)
From here on, the train edges along some grand canyons, then seems to cut its own right-of-way thr-
ough genuine bring-'em-back-alive jungle. This is spooky at first, plunging through giant ferns and
elephant-ear leaves, but you get used to it.
Deeper inland, the coach rumbles to a halt in a quiet mountain village. The village is called Catad-
upa, but its instant-dress-making talents could earn it the title of Hong Kong West.
Where else in the world (except in Hong Kong East) could you pick your fabric, be measured for a
shift, and have the finished dress a few hours later? Your seamstress delivers it to the train,
neatly parceled, on the return trip. All you have to deliver is $6.50 for the needle-work and $1-
a-yard for the best of the tastefully splashy prints.
While you've been out poring over fabrics, the train's barman has been pouring a batch of his
"Catch-Me-Nappin" rum punch. This is followed by a seven-course Jamaican picnic-cum-calypso,
in the shade of a thatched house that looks like the world's biggest coolie hat.
If you're worrying about the rum supply, don't. Last stop is the Appleton Rum Distillery, where
you can go through the plant, and have a sip ... and another sip ... and another. Rum enough,
in fact, to send you whooo-whoooing back down the track all the way to MontegoBay.
